Splashaway Bay also features an adjacent baby splash zone that is appropriate for babies and toddlers in swim diapers. This space typically features ankle-high water, a small slide and a variety of splash apparatus. As of now, there’s no word on requirements to ride the waterslides in Category 6.

This isn't just one giant waterslide; it's a whole complex of waterslides, each one among the most exciting you'll find anywhere on the world's oceans. It’s no surprise that Disney Cruise Line would infuse its onboard water parks with a bit of Disney entertainment. On Allure of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas you’ll find the H20 Zone which is perfect for babies and toddlers.

But one perk of the cabanas is that admission to the park is included. On Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway Class ships, you’ll find no fewer than five multi-storey waterslides. The Free Fall slide is the fastest and one of the most exhilarating slides at sea. Stand inside the capsule and wait until the floor drops away leaving you hurtling downwards at the speed of four Gs.
Note that there is no rule that you have to ride the same slides. So Mom and Dad could hang out by the wave pool while the kiddo rides slides. While the waterpark activities are only to those paying the entrance fee, don’t think you have to pay to have fun and get wet while visiting. With a 46 foot drop and 360 degree loop, it will be the tallest waterslide at sea that will begin with you inside of a capsule waiting for the trap door to release.

To get absolutely soaked, stand under the PowerDrencher, which drops an enormous bucket of water on its victims. All together, the park looks like a giant, vibrantly-colored Rube Goldberg machine. Although you will get a great experience on any Carnival ship, the newest ships, Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee, are where you find the best of the best cruise water parks. At Royal Caribbean, that means the giant Oasis-class vessels, which include Wonder of the Seas — the world's largest cruise ship.
The private island operated by the cruise line is one of the most popular ports in cruising. Royal Caribbean spent hundreds of millions to transform the area from a sleepy island to a full-fledged destination. At a minimum, guests must be at least 48 inches tall to ride the slides, although each one has its own requirements (for those without children, that’s typically around eight years old). Category 6 Waterpark is included in your cruise fare and has no additional cost. The second family rate slide, Storm Surge, has an open slingshot element.
At times, you go flying over the side of the ship, over open water (not that you have much time to take in the view). As watery cruise ship attractions go, it has long been the staple — something found on nearly every cruise vessel going back to the 1970s. Adventure, Freedom, Harmony, Independence, Liberty, Oasis, Ovation, Spectrum, Symphony, and Wonder of the Seas cater to kiddos with a few smaller waterslides and more substantial water features at Splashaway Bay. Carnival Breeze, Carnival Magic and Carnival Dream offer Twister and DrainPipe, a 104-foot tube that empties into a giant funnel. Carnival Breeze and Carnival Magic also have PowerDrencher tipping buckets, mini-racers and splash parks.
And although it's not a waterslide, to catch even more speed and thrills, head to the Ultimate Abyss, a dry slide on Harmony, Oasis, Symphony and Wonder of the Seas to whiz down ten decks, ending on the Boardwalk. Liberty of the Seas has a boomerang-style two-person raft ride called Tidal Wave, and Navigator of the Seas has two unique slides – Blaster and Riptide. The ride minimum heights range from 40″ to 48″; the most extreme rides require riders to be at least four feet tall. As for weight limits, we didn’t see minimums, but did see maximums of 300 pounds. There are scales that you will stand on before some rides to confirm you meet the weight limits, and we saw staff checking heights.
Offering the largest fleet of water parks at sea by far, Carnival Cruise Line is known for keeping things fun and light, even while drenched head to toe. Arguably the best of all cruise water parks is Carnival’s signature aquatic playground, WaterWorks. You can find one of these parks on every ship in their fleet, although what they have to offer will differ from ship to ship. Carnival has really outdone the competition in cruise water slides with what they call the Twister Waterslides, spiraling enclosed slides that whip around for hundreds of feet. Some ships even have side-by-side racing slides so you can compete with your friends to see who can zip down the fastest. Dedicated to maximizing time spent outside among sun and sea, Breakaway-class ships Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway each have up to five multistory waterslides, including the scream-inducing Free Fall.
